Cybersecurity and Psychology: The Next Frontier

Cybersecurity is one of Australia’s National Security Priorities with breaches representing one of the greatest threats to national sovereignty, individual privacy, and institutional confidence. Surprisingly, some of the most significant cybersecurity breaches of recent times have occurred not through the dealings of offshore, clandestine organisations, but through errors in the distribution of information, carelessness or, in some cases, malicious behaviour on the part of employees. In other words, technology can provide security to a certain degree but it is the behaviour, attitudes, and decisions of people that ensure optimal cybersecurity.
This event is an opportunity to hear about the technical and non-technical sides of cybersecurity and develop an understanding of the critical role of psychology, and psychologists, in managing cyber security now, and in to the future.
