Three minute Thesis (3MT ®) competition

Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) celebrates the exciting research conducted by PhD students around the world. Developed by The University of Queensland (UQ), the competition cultivates students’ academic, presentation, and research communication skills. Note, traditionally 3MT competitions target PhD students. For the 2019 IOP Conference, the 3MT will be open to PhD and Masters of Psychology students.

3MT presenters have three minutes to present a compelling oration on their thesis and its significance. 3MT is not an exercise in trivialising or ‘dumbing-down’ research, but challenges Postgraduate students to consolidate their ideas and research discoveries so they can be presented concisely to a non-specialist audience.

The objective is to effectively explain your Masters or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) research which focuses on an area of interest to psychology in three minutes (maximum), in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.

To enter into the 2019 Industrial and Organisational Psychology Conference 3M Thesis competition, you will need to submit an abstract. Call for submissions will open 6 November 2018. Please go to call for submissions page for further information.

Those thesis abstract that are accepted into the 2019 IOP Conference Program will automatically be eligible to participate in the 3 Minute Thesis competition.

PhD and Masters Students may be enrolled in any discipline of Psychology.

While the 3MT is primarily targeted towards those currently enrolled in a Masters or PhD Psychology program at an APAC accredited institution, submissions will also be accepted from those who have been conferred with a Masters or PhD qualification in 2018.

Three Minute Thesis Competition Prizes will be award to the winner, first runner up and second runner up.
